Paid Memberships Pro affiliate integration

The Paid Memberships Pro affiliate integration pays your affiliates when a visitor they referred buys a Paid Memberships Pro membership level. Ultimate Affiliate Pro creates the referral when the payment is recorded and keeps its status in sync with the Paid Memberships Pro order.

The visitor is linked to the affiliate through an affiliate referral link. The commission comes from the affiliate’s rank, applied to the amount paid.

Before you start

  • Paid Memberships Pro is installed and active, with at least one membership level.
  • The Paid Memberships Pro Tracking add-on is installed and active. See Pro Add-ons.
  • Your affiliates have a rank with a commission rate.

What creates and updates a referral #

The add-on follows Paid Memberships Pro orders. The order subtotal is the base for the commission.

Turn on the Paid Memberships Pro affiliate integration #

  1. Go to Ultimate Affiliate Pro›Integrations.

  3. Click Configure on the card to open the Paid Memberships Pro Tracking settings.

Test it #

  1. Open a private browser window and visit your site through an affiliate link, for example yourstore.com/?ref=emma.collins.
  2. In the same window, sign up for a Paid Memberships Pro membership level with a new customer account. Use a test payment method.
  3. In Ultimate Affiliate Pro›Referrals, check that a referral with source Paid Memberships Pro was created for the affiliate, and that it is Approved once the payment is complete.

For a full test routine, see Test your affiliate program. The Paid Memberships Pro documentation explains levels and orders.

Frequently asked questions #

Which amount is used for the Paid Memberships Pro commission?

The order subtotal. The affiliate’s rank rate is applied to it, so a 20% rank on a $59 order gives an $11.80 referral.

What happens when I refund or cancel a Paid Memberships Pro order?

The referral of that order changes to Rejected, so it is not paid.

Does the member need a WordPress account?

Yes. Paid Memberships Pro creates a user account at checkout, and the referral is linked to that customer.

Can I approve Paid Memberships Pro referrals manually?

Yes. Turn on Keep Referral Status as Pending in Ultimate Affiliate Pro›Settings›Admin Workflow: automatic approval is turned off, and you approve referrals yourself in the Referrals list.

A checkout did not create a referral. What should I check?

Check that the Paid Memberships Pro card is enabled in Integrations, that the member opened the affiliate link in the same browser before checkout, and that the affiliate account is active. See Referrals or clicks are not recorded.
